Göra Stockholm, 1996. Collaboration with artist Pierre Sandgren. 6 hrs performance,
Citygalleriet, Stockholm, Sweden

We wrote a script for events to happen for almost a whole day and followed it. The script specified certain locations and routes and dialogues for what we were going to say and do at exact times during the full day. It also included written dialogues for interactions with other people, like fx the bus driver, who at 1.15 pm would say this or that and what we would then answer. This script was handed out to the unknowing actors/audience of the play. The chosen, or planned for activities during the day was quite ordinary. To further test the frame of the work´s relation to fictive and real space we also included a part where we went to the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities museum and dressed out as mummies. This inscribed event in the performance was a bit more engaging for the people in the streets as we walked up to Sergels torg in central Stockholm. Pierre had a hidden audio system in his belly, producing ghostly sounds.
Our idea was that we could catch up with the flow of time and expand the finite territory of the present. The initial, rather naive setup for the work, aimed to as faithfully as ever possible, follow the appeal of Marcel Duchamp in his note
from the Green Box to create a Readymade in real time. Although the question about what art potentially could and should be was of interest for me, the performance had instead a closer and very messy relationship with Joseph Kosuth´s artistic reflections on existential time.

Välkommen till möblerna, 1995. Excerpts from video.
Original length 9 min.

In this forced talking situation I wear headphones, exposed to an audiotrack with many layers of information, as random cuts from tv, radio and also my own voice reading a story. The sudden screams and facial expressions was the effect of hearing very loud sounds and the efforts of trying to distinguish the words and say them at the same time as I heard them. I was interested in the actor as a pure mediator of signals. The only thing that was transmitted was random real time sounds from the audio archive and facial expressions. This false acting could be seen as a living malfunctioning radio station.

A story is told. The editing of the video, randomized and distorted the linearity of the narrative by following the rule of match cuts.
